Privacy Policy for Project Nightmare

Last Updated: 26th February 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Project Nightmare. This game is developed and published by John Davies (JDVanguard), of Cryo Sleep Studios based in the United Kingdom.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy will inform you about how we look after your data when you play the game, participate in the global leaderboards, and tell you about your privacy rights.

2. The Data We Collect

Project Nightmare does not track your IP address, collect your email, or require you to create a custom account. However, to power our global survival leaderboard system, the game automatically collects and transmits the following specific data points:

  • Your Steam Display Name: Used to identify your entry on the leaderboard.

  • Your Survival Stats: The highest Wave you reached and your Total Kills for that specific run.

  • Date of Last Sync: A timestamp of the last time your game uploaded data to the server.

3. How We Use Your Data

The data listed above is collected for exactly one purpose: to display your progression on the global Survival Leaderboard. Under UK and EU law (GDPR), the legal basis for collecting this data is "Legitimate Interest," as it is necessary to provide the multiplayer leaderboard functionality of the game.

4. Where Your Data is Stored (Third Parties)

Your data is securely sent to and stored on Google Firebase, a cloud database service provided by Google. Firebase acts as the backend for the game's leaderboards.

  • We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to any other outside parties.

  • Your data is protected by Firebase’s standard security and authentication rules to prevent unauthorised overwriting or tampering.

5. Data Retention

Your leaderboard data is retained indefinitely so that your legacy remains in the Survival Leaderboards for as long as the game's servers are active.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including the UK, EU, and California), you have rights regarding your personal data. You have the right to:

  • Request access to the data we hold about you.

  • Request correction of incorrect data.

  • Request deletion of your data (the "right to be forgotten").

If you would like your Steam Name and Survival Stats completely erased from the Project Nightmare leaderboards, please contact us using the email below, providing your Steam Profile Name / ID so we can locate and remove your entry.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the game's features or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page or announced via Steam Community updates.
